EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Emily Georges Gottfried served as Director of AJC, Oregon Chapter from 1999-2008 and currently holds the position of Executive Director of the Oregon Area Jewish Committee. In her professional capacity, Emily has served as chair of the Inter-Religious Action Network of Washington County (IAN) and she is currently Chair of the Human Rights Council of Washington County. She is Secretary of the local Federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program board, Treasurer of the Coalition Against Hate Crimes, a statewide convener of the Oregon Faith Roundtable Against Hunger, a member of the board of the Vision Action Network of Washington County, a member of the City of Portland Human Rights Commission, and a member of the Oregon Food Bank Policy Advisory Committee. From 1988 - 1999 she was the Cultural Arts, Special Events and Publicity Director at the Mittleman Jewish Community Center in Portland. She served as cantor at Congregation Albert in Albuquerque, NM from 1983-88. In the past 22 years she has traveled several times to Albuquerque, NM; Spokane, WA; Palm Desert, CA, and Aspen Colorado as a High Holiday cantor. She continues to sing and lead services at Havurah Shalom in Portland (where she also served on the board) and other locations in Oregon and southwest Washington, including eight years as High Holiday cantor at Congregation Kol Ami in Vancouver. Emily is a graduate of Pomona College (BA, Religion), the University of Oregon (Music Education), and the University of New Mexico (M. Music, Vocal Performance). A native Oregonian, Emily is married to Jeff Gottfried and has two adult daughters.
DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
OAJC is happy to announce that Amy Geoffroy has joined our staff as Development Coordinator. Amy and her family recently moved to Portland from New Jersey, where she served as a development associate for the Rutgers University School of Management and Labor Relations. Prior to that, she was director of special programs for Wellesley College Alumnae Association. As the mother of two girls, the younger of whom has Down syndrome, she is active in the disability and inclusive education communities. She is currently a trustee of Down Syndrome Pregnancy, Inc and is the former President of Network 21:Supporting Families with Down Syndrome in Central New Jersey.
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTAdministrative assistant Lisa Miller has been with OAJC since December 2009. Over the years, Lisa has been involved as a volunteer in the Portland Schools Japanese Immersion Program, political volunteering, and several organizations for young people with disabilities. |
